Horóscopo
All Year 9 Spanish students (Mars, Mercury, Neptune and Jupiter) were
fortunate enough to watch a play called Horóscopo.
The company was from Spain and the play was entirely in Spanish. The audience
were able to follow the story easily as the play was designed for KS3
students and the actors used props, repetition and gestures to break down
communication barriers.
The play starts off with Maricela, a hopeful romantic, reading her horoscope
in a magazine and believing that she is destined to meet her love match.
When her next-door neighbours' grandson Santiago bumps into her, she thinks
that according to her horoscope clues, he must be her future love match.
An excitable Maricela pushes Santiago to his limits and then finds out
her love is unrequited. When it all seems to point towards disaster, she
realises that her perfect love match was right in front of her all along.
Finally, her eccentric neighbour, Stéfano is given a chance and
the future looks promising.

Classics Students visit King's College to see
Euripides 'Helen'
All the students of Ancient Greek, from Years 10- 13, made their annual
pilgrimage to King's College London in February to see Euripides 'Helen'.
This is a rare opportunity to see Greek drama performed in the original
language, and all agreed that it was both fascinating and exciting. The
subtitles certainly helped too! We already look forward to next year's
production.
