There are 4 full-time Spanish teachers in the department and two of them
are native speakers. The Head of Spanish, Mr Paul Johnson, oversees the
work of a large, popular subject.
At KS3, there are four classes of Spanish in years 7, 8 and 9. All students
study within their form groups until they reach year 10, when they make
their GCSE options.
All students are given a text book to use throughout the course. Students
use the 'Listos' series which comes with a work book. They have occasional
use of the Language Lab and also the ICT suite. They study a variety of
topics in a communicative way to enable them to manage day-to-day real
life situations.

At KS4 we are pleased that demand for the subject remains high with four
classes at GCSE. Students are not offered the coursework option for GCSE
so they take the final GCSE examinations in all the elements of Listening,
Speaking, Reading and Writing. All students use the language lab regularly
to practise their speaking and listening skills
Please follow the link to read more about KS4 topics.
All students are encouraged to use websites to access games, music and
TV from home to supplement their learning in the class room.
A high number of students opt to continue with Spanish at AS and A2. Please
follow the link to find information about AS and A2 Spanish at Nonsuch
Students in years 10 and 12 are offered the opportunity to participate
in the Study Tour to Spain. Previous destinations have included Barcelona,
Seville and Granada. For more information about the Spanish trips, please
