A modular science course is taught in Key Stage 3 based on the QCA Scheme of Work, and supported by the Heinemann Science Scheme textbooks and resources.

Pupils receive six hours of Science teaching per two week cycle. In years 7 and 8, pupils are taught in tutor groups. In year 9, there are eight teaching groups in science allowing smaller class sizes, therefore giving each teacher more time with each pupil in the run up to end of key stage 3 statutory attainment tests (SAT).

Educational visits are an important part of the Science experience at Nonsuch. Recent visits have included trips to Marwell Zoo and the London Planetarium.

The topics that are covered during Key Stage 3 are set out below. The National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 is undergoing a major review at present and Nonsuch is currently preparing for the changes which will become effective in September 2008. The new course structure will be provided as soon as it has been agreed.
