Nonsuch Old Girls' Association

January 2010

Dear Nonsuch Old Girl,

In my first letter to you, I would like you to know that I consider it a great privilege to have been asked to lead this excellent school and succeed Mrs Espejo whose inspirational leadership has placed the school in its current position of strength. As we move into a new decade, I look forward to working with all partners of the school community to ensure that it continues to flourish in a changing and challenging educational climate.

Students at Nonsuch have many talents and interests and in my first term, I have encouraged them to aim high and make the most of the opportunities on offer. I strongly believe that by getting involved and taking an active part in the life of the school, the girls will develop a variety of additional interests, skills and attributes which will serve them well in the future.

Over the past few months I have enjoyed meeting some of you at the 'Social Evening' in September and in December, when we welcomed back last year's Year 13 as they collected their A level Certificates. Talking to Old Girls reinforces the important role that school plays in preparing our students not only to excel in exams, but to develop as confident, happy and successful young women ready to take on the world. One of the highlights of the term was listening to former Nonsuch student, now a Flight Engineer with the Red Arrows Team, Charlotte Fenn who was our guest speaker at the Main School Speech Day in November. Her inspirational address is evidence that for former Nonsuch students the sky is the limit!

You can be justly proud to be part of the Nonsuch family and I am very keen to forge closer links between the School and the Old Girls' Association. The first stage will involve setting up a database of contacts and extending the use of our website and electronic communication to help you stay in touch with one another and the school. To achieve this, I ask that you return the completed Data Form to the school. I am also interested to hear from you with ideas of what you would like from your Association. If you are in contact with other 'Old Girls' do encourage them to join by contacting Mrs Lenthall or emailing their details to oldgirls@nonsuch.sutton.sch.uk.

Please find enclosed our new style Newsletter, future copies of which will be posted on the school website. I would like to thank the committee for their continued hard work and look forward to meeting you soon.

Yours faithfully,

Karin Rowsell
Head
